10/20/08 - YAY. Everything's going great. We've got almost the entire site set up (except for the king's castle and mainland). I'm excited with how things are going. EVERYONE please attempt to make us a banner. It's bare up there. -points up-
10/15/08 - Ew. I had PSATs today. Anyways so I've finished getting the side and top banners sorted out and now we need an image banner for the top. I urge everyone to enter the contest.
10/12/08 - The forum is created! Yeaaahhh. We already have five members (including myself and my sister; but I'm not complaining). We're getting all the important stuff down and enjoying every minute of it. Or well...I am at least. c:

So you may have noticed we are lacking images on the front page. WE NEED A BANNER. Thus, we are having a contest. Rules as follows: 1. Image must contain a castle and must be black and white. 2. Image must have "Vie de Chateau" in there somewhere. 3. It must have a width under 1160.

Welcome to Vie de Château, an advanced/literate medieval human roleplay. The overarching plot is a battle between two kingdoms, those of Géant (of the North) and Épique (of the South). These kingdoms are the two separate halves of the island of Île which resides quite near Europe. Because of their remote locations, each kingdom is extremely small (as a Lord's "kingdom" from approximately the same time would've been) and contains only a single castle and one town. The infrastructure of each castle and town is very different from the other, in size and layout, but both are equally prosperous and have a similar population. They began as allies, the kings planning to marry their children and become one great kingdom. But when Épique's princess goes missing, it's king blames his neighbor. When war is waged, it will take a great amount of cunning and military precision for either side to win without plunging the entire island into an economic depression and doom them all.

General
This roleplay will be mature. Sometimes very mature. Please keep this is mind. There will not be any warning for graphic scenes for things such as rape, sex, and gore. Keep it as tasteful as possible but don't limit yourself. I think we can all handle it.
Respect is vital. If there is any fighting ooc or any arguing with Moderators/Administrators, serious action will be taken. Again, we can all be mature. If you hack into someone's account or say something bad on the cBox, I will find out, and I can and will get your IP, so don't try it.
All occ talk must be tasteful, with few curses and few sexual themes/conversations. There will be warnings and an eventual suspension.
For each infraction of the rules, you will receive one warning, however, more sever infractions will possibly incur more than one. Three warnings, and your account will be temporarily suspended (one week). After that, three more Infractions will earn you a longer suspension (one month). The next three Infractions will lead to a permanent expulsion from the site. Steps may be skipped depending on the severity of the infraction, or circumstance.
Joining
Each character you create must have it's own account. You can let us know in your signature and/or personal test that it's you, and if you have power/staff priviledges, you will be awarded them on every account you create (if you so desire).
Do not roleplay without first going through the appropriate procedure. You must read these rules, then introduce yourself, then create your character, and wait until it is accepted to begin roleplaying. That said, please use the form provided when creating characters and wait for a staff member to accept your character.
Posting
Every single post must be at least seven well-developed sentences. In other words, a paragraph. I understand lack of inspiration and writer's block, but any literate writer has the ability to write at least this much. Do not abuse this privilege. If I am notified that you are writing insufficient replies, I will send you warnings. These will result in your eventual suspension (if your short posts continue).
If you character is speaking, please put their words in bold or color...or both! Regretting to do so will not get you in much trouble. You will simply be reminded. This is for the benefit of fellow roleplayers, and if they don't mind, don't worry about it. Likewise, if you character is thinking something, but not saying it aloud, put it in italics.
Attempt to keep some casual order to the posts. If you're participating in a roleplay that includes three or more people, don't post at light speed with one other person. Be sure to include everyone and give them a chance to post.
I do allow liquid time on this site. Meaning, your character(s) can be in two or more places at once. But please, don't overdo it. Try and limit it to two places at once. Let's not be silly.
GM and PP will obviously not be tolerated. Warnings, suspensions, etc. will occur.
Don't post without using the spell-check button first. Spelling mistake take away from your posts and warnings will be issued.
Any point of view is acceptable except for first person omniscient.
Fighting
We've elected to adopt a system of fighting that actually applies to your specific character/side. Two staff members will judge the fight and provide the number of hits and dodges that are available to your character/side. Depending on the characteristics of your character/side (stamina, numbers, strength, etc.) these numbers will vary. Using a point system, the staff members will decide at the end of the fight who wins and who loses.
To participate in one on one combat, both sides must agree on a fighting style (with/without weapons and if weapons are used than what type) before seeking the permission of a staff member. If the staff member agrees, then the staff member will create the board and describe the setting briefly. Obstacles must be taken into account.
Fights can occur between men and women, but the outcome will more than likely be stereotypical. Men do tend to be stronger. However, there are exceptions depending on the characters.
Sexual Activity
It happens. Deal. You don't have to read the posts or participate if you don't want to, but it is a part of life. How do you think you were conceived? Yeahhh.
Rape is allowed. The consent of the other roleplayer is required. And staff will be reading these posts, as will anyone else who wants to. Be tasteful.
Sex. Yeah. People do it. And they don't have to be married. But please take into account the time period. Premarital sex isn't as common as it is now. And if they get caught, all hell will break loose. Kidding. Same goes for homosexual sex.
There is a 50/50 chance the female involved will get pregnant. Contact a staff member to find out. They will tell you the sex, coloration, and birthdate of the baby who will be born immediately. You can name the tyke and keep it or put it up for adoption. Sexual Activity
Winter is approaching, and though during the day highs of 70 degrees are common, nightly temperatures plummet to nearly freezing. Frost coats the early-morning earth, and it is not a very prosperous time. Though disease is rare due to the high standards of sanitation, any illness that exists is rampant during this time. Armies are usually dormant and villagers tend to congregate and participate in tasks such as the making of fabric and the tanning of hides.
